The Second Term of Donald J. Trump as President of the United States of America

We've always known that Vance is a buffoon - this just provides additional proof

JD Vance branded 'buffoon' for dismissing Trump family financial claims

Vice President JD Vance is facing a wave of online ridicule after brushing off claims that Donald Trump and his family have cashed in on the presidency. In an interview with 2WAY’s Mark Halperin, Vance called the idea “laughable” and argued the Trumps were already extremely wealthy before politics came into the picture. He added that the family had paid a heavy financial and personal price for Trump’s time in office.

The comments landed awkwardly given Forbes’ latest numbers. The magazine puts Trump’s net worth at around $7 billion, roughly $2.7 billion more than when he won the 2024 election. In 2025 his fortune hit a record $7.3 billion, well above the previous peak of $4.5 billion in 2015.

"Trump family financial claims" #4,201
Perhaps less so now, but I've long suspected DJT's "wealth" was a Potemkin village of leveraged baloney.
Mayor Rudy Giuliani said of Trump:
"The man's a genius."

Late night TV comedy host Stephen Colbert replied:
"Yes. Only a genius could lose a $Billion $dollars running a casino."
Trump is a narcissistic self-impressed bumbling incompetent.

Whether or not President Trump's personal $wealth acquired while in presidential office violates the Constitution's emoluments clause is a matter for our Constitutional scholars to resolve.
At very least, there is the appearance, if not the fact of impropriety.

Potemkin village
n.
Something that appears elaborate and impressive but in actual fact lacks substance: "the Potemkin village of this country's borrowed prosperity" (Lewis H. Lapham).
[After Grigori Aleksandrovich Potemkin, who is said to have had elaborate fake villages constructed for Catherine the Great's tours of Ukraine and Crimea.]
