Anthropogenic Global Warming ... how hot is it ?

Insurance like Lloyds of London is a great idea, because they allowed risk pooling on risky but highly profitable ventures like risky ships to China. But these days, insurance has gotten out of hand by legislating mandates without proper controls to regulate costs.

Anthropogenic Global Warming ... how hot is it ?

We are talking about the total cost, not just the annual premium. Insurance has never covered much of anything in my experience. They even try to claim that hurricanes and forest fires are not covered, as "acts of god".

Insurance used to not be a popular thing until 1957 when the IRS decided to allow employers to be able to write off employee benefits like health insurance. Since then, insurance companies have used their vast assets to create horizontal and vertical monopolies. So then yes, its a question of...

The Second Term of Donald J. Trump as President of the United States of America

What Reagan did was illegal. The whole point of the space shuttle was as a space weapon. It makes no sense to use anything larger than an Apollo capsule simply to get astronauts up and down to something like Skylab. The whole point of the shuttle was to be able to carry nuclear weapons into...

Obituary: ... there they go !

Actually primitives tended to not live in huts. It was much more efficient for them to live in large communal lodges. They then shared large kitchen kivas and cooked meals communally. It is highly inefficient for each family to do their own individual cooking and fires. In places like Mesa Verde...

Obituary: ... there they go !

Mesa Verde is proof that native Americans were NOT nomadic. They clearly lived in one place for over 1000 years. And that is almost always the case. It takes time to discover the best locations for a trapline, fishing holes, deer blinds, etc. Once you do, then it makes no sense to move and throw...

Obituary: ... there they go !

Very few primitives traveled. Not only is it a lot of work to move all their belongings, but it would mean leaving behind their favorite hunting grounds, their traplines, their favorite wild edible patches, etc. The statistics I read say that primitives work less than 2 hours a day on things...

The seat belt costs about $30. The spare tire about $100. The fire insurance costs more $50,000, with fewer than 1% of homes ever having fires. The administrative costs of insurance policies seem pretty much nil. They just take your money unless you ever file a claim, and neither require any...

The Second Term of Donald J. Trump as President of the United States of America

But remember that the only actual "Soviet politburo tenure" we "cut short" was that of Gorbachev, the only really good thing that came out of Russia. With the 2 nukes we used in WWII, you have to remember that actually the Japanese had been trying to surrender over half a year before we dropped...

The Second Term of Donald J. Trump as President of the United States of America

Yes, it was a huge opportunity lost. And what Reagan had done to bankrupt and break up the USSR was evil as well, essentially pretending to weaponize space with SDI.

Anthropogenic Global Warming ... how hot is it ?

The idea is that when the money is not used due to claims, then the insurance company takes it as profit. And what I am suggesting is that the insurance company then is not really providing anything, and is worthless. Instead, the people should simply share a risk pool they agree upon how much...

Anthropogenic Global Warming ... how hot is it ?

A more sensible approach would be for people to pay into a risk pool that accumulated. That way if the amount needed for security was exceeded, then everyone could stop paying in until funds dropped down below the threshold, due to pay outs.

And that amounts to fraud. It is totally unfair to drop everyone in a particular region or class of business because someone else had some bad luck. It is also totally unfair to drop health insurance to a person just because they finally made a claim.

Anthropogenic Global Warming ... how hot is it ?

Wrong. If your insurance is going to be dropped, you never would have ever even started buying insurance at all. To encourage purchasing the policy and then dropping it later for no reason is essentially fraud.

Anthropogenic Global Warming ... how hot is it ?

That is deceptive. It should be obvious that if you knew the policy could be cancelled, you never would have even considered buying the property in the first place. It is totally inappropriate to allow someone to have a policy for health, home, or auto, and then for no reason related to the...

The Second Term of Donald J. Trump as President of the United States of America

But you are forgetting from 1991 when Gorbachev allowed East Germany to reunite with West Germany, and the Ukraine was allowed independence. {... Quote The quote from James Baker, U.S. Secretary of State, is a pivotal moment in the history of NATO and the Cold War. It was part of a series of...

Anthropogenic Global Warming ... how hot is it ?

And that is the point, that it is immoral and should be illegal to not track pay-ins and pay-outs over a lifetime, since no one normally needs any health care when young, but everyone needs health care when older. It is immoral to force people to pay-in when young and then cancel people as soon...

Anthropogenic Global Warming ... how hot is it ?

That makes no sense because the charge is the same whether you are 20 or 70, and yet their risk obviously is very different. It should be illegal to cancel a person from health insurance simply because they finally need some health work done.

Anthropogenic Global Warming ... how hot is it ?

I do not remember well enough since it was a couple years ago. It could be cancel or non-renew. But it still seems wrong to have people pay in for over 20 years, and then get dropped with nothing returned from all that money paid in.

Obituary: ... there they go !

Pretty much agree, but then also along with the agricultural surplus came conflicts over land ownership, plantation slavery, currency, and mercenaries. All of which are negatives. Humans really did not normally need an agricultural surplus. The only thing I would disagree is a connection...
